all i do is answer questions
On training flights, whether 4 or 7 hours long, 90% of my time is spent getting quizzed on any and all topics of the equipment I operate and maintain on JSTARS. Today was no exception. I spent a total of 5 hours taking 2 tests that I’m required to pass before my check ride (final flight training evaluation). The first was closed book, 50 questions long, and generalized on flying standards and emergency equipment/information about the plane. That one took me about 20 minutes. The second test was open book, also 50 questions, covering everything I’m responsible for knowing as an Airborne Radar Technician, learned over the last 4 months. Not so quick on that one… I was second to last in the room after 4 hours and 40 minutes. I ended up pretty satisfied though, with 100 on closed and 98 on open. Next flight is Thursday.
